Yesterday or Tomorrow?

Will your child be educated for the World of Yesterday or the World of Tomorrow?
This should be a silly question, but Howard Gardner, a professor at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, said that most teaching is preparing young people for the 19th and 20th centuries, not the 21st century.

What will the world be like in 20 years for a child beginning preschool today?
There is no crystal ball, but providing your child with the unique early childhood education that GVI Preschool offers will give him or her the skills necessary for success in a global economy. We prepare children for the 21st century by:

  • Offering world-class academics
  • Teaching English and a second-world language
  • Developing cultural competency
  • Cultivating authentic 21st-century skills

Pathway to Global Success: Preschool to College

GVI Preschool is committed to offering students an educational pathway from early childhood through college designed to prepare them for the global challenges of the 21st century.
A key component of our educational model is teaching both English and a second-world language. To be successful, students must have the opportunity to learn a second language over many years from a young age. In second-language instruction, this is called vertical articulation.

World Language & Culture

Spanish is taught by native speakers!
We offer literacy instruction in English and a world language, as well as world language immersion in content areas (e.g. Math, Science) taught in both languages. In preschool, children experience up to one hour of daily academic instruction in a second language.

The 5 C’s were developed by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). They include:

  1. Communication: Communication stresses the use of language in “real life” situations. It emphasizes “what students can do with language” rather than “what they know about language.”
  2. Cultures: Experiencing other cultures develops a better understanding and appreciation of the relationship between languages and other cultures.
  3. Connections: World language instruction must be connected with other subjects.
  4. Comparisons: Children are encouraged to compare and contrast languages and cultures.
  5. Communities: Our teachers, who are native speakers, help children experience language and culture in a way that emphasizes living in a diverse, global society.
